Rafael Nadal and his 80 Sunreef Power in the Headlines

The delivery of Rafael Nadal’s 80 Sunreef Power Great White has been garnering worldwide attention.  From exclusive interviews, feature articles, and video highlights, all share a glimpse at how the 34-year-old tennis pro will be spending his free time off of the court aboard a bespoke yacht that he envisions to be his home away from home.

In the Forbes’ “Superyacht Influencer Interview” series, Bill Springer spoke to the tennis champ how yacht ownership has become an outlet from the stress and pressures of his high profile life.  In the article, Rafael Nadal Talks Tennis And How His New Yacht Helps His Game, Nadal shares that he chose to build his 80 Sunreef Power after falling in love with the model and that want to purchase the yacht as opposed to chartering, since it offers flexibility and is simply just good for his personal life. He goes on to say “I can get away from the stress that way. To me it’s important, it helps me restore positive energy. That’s something that helps me move forward with my tennis career, it’s one of the things I really appreciate in boating.”  Rafa also detailed some of the great things that makes his yacht so special, such as having it built to his exact specifications and enjoying the comfort, stability, and space onboard that it feels just like a home.

Rafa also joined Boat International’s Deputy Editor Caroline White, from on board his Sunreef superyacht Great White, for their first Boat Briefing weekly podcast.  In the interview, he answered questions about his yachting background, what he was looking for in a new yacht, and how involved he was in the yacht design process.  Nadal opened up about how his appreciation for boating developed as a young boy spending time on his father’s speed boats and that while he is a fan of many types of yachts, he enjoys how catamarans allow him to be close to the coast near beaches where the water is shallow.  He also noted the importance of safety on board, the incredible space on the 80 Sunreef Power, and how he worked very closely with the Sunreef Yachts in-house design team to create a vision of his own.  Exuberant in his satisfaction, Rafael Nadal described his luxury power catamaran as the “perfect boat, in the perfect moment, so super happy!”  Listen to the full podcast on Apple or Spotify.
